As the theme of 2020 is immunity, we wanted to share some of our favorite supplements to help support your immune system.

Vitamin D3 has a lot of different functions in the body, but some of its most prolific jobs is to function as an immune modulator. It enhances the function of immune cells and reduces inflammation in the body and functions as more of a hormone than vitamin co-factor.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble antioxidant that can help quench free radicals, which can cause all sorts of damage in the body. Along with Vitamin C, green tea extract and glutathione can also serve similar functions. Each antioxidant has their own research in the literature and are all effective for immune support. N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) is a precursor to glutathione and can also help with a lot of mucus congestion.

Zinc is also another beneficial mineral that help with the same functions mentioned above, but what makes zinc unique is that it can prevent problematic inflammation that can come along with infection. Per new research, zinc can function as anti-inflammatory as well.

Metagenics Nazanol is a great Chinese herbal blend that can help break up sinus congestion. The nice part about this product is the blend is synergistic, meaning the herbs that are in it increase each other’s effectiveness.

Health Concerns Cold Away is another synergistic blend of Chinese herbs that can help the entire body fight the common cold, and other viruses. The recommended dosage is 3 tabs, 3 times daily for a week with an active infection.

Finally, Designs for Health Ginger Tussin is a syrup that contains ginger, lovage (respiratory herb) and wild cherry. All three botanicals contain anti-viral properties and can help break up stubborn mucus in the throat and lungs.

Good old fashioned Elderberry syrup is also available at the clinic, and can be used in combination with the above mentioned Ginger Tussin!

As a result of 2020 and our current climate, we want to offer 15% off of all the supplements mentioned above as our “Summer Social Distancing Support Special!” Say that fast three times!
